Home Is Where I Find Myself

St. Thomas, USVI – Day 12

One of the things that I’ve been impressed by is just how quickly things here have changed in our camp. We’ve only been back a handful of days, and already we’ve taken the area from a soggy field, to a soggy tent city. Today in particular we laid down some stone to create paths between tents. Such a seemingly little thing has seemed to change the entire field more than erecting a whole mess of tents on it.

Each little improvement makes things more bearable and you can feel morale improve with each step. There hasn’t really been a morale problem, but let’s be honest, no one likes being reminded they’re living in a soggy field.

I had Chinese food tonight, chicken and mushrooms. It was delicious. And it didn’t come out of a bag.

Where are you going? Where have you been?
